A local couple was recognized earlier this week at the 2018 Boy Scout Golden Eagle Banquet. Dr. Mike and Katie King Risk were honored for their involvement in scouting and their contributions during Tuesday’s event at First United Methodist Church in Mountain Home.
The banquet had approximately 125 attendees as the Risks were recognized for their years of service to the Mountain Home School District, their church, the Baxter Regional Hospital Foundation, the Mountain Home Christian Clinic, the Donald W. Reynolds Library, the Food Bank of North Central Arkansas, and Arkansas State University-Mountain Home. Dr. Risk is an Eagle Scout, and he and his wife were involved in scouting as their son, Justin, was earning his Eagle Scout rank.
The Troop 156 Scouts performed the opening flag ceremony, and Russell Salyer and Duncan Conley spoke to the audience about their scouting experiences. Over $19,000 was raised for scouting during Tuesday’s banquet, and over 5,800 scouts are served by the WestArk Area Council.
