A White County man, 24-year-old Brent Allen Whitman, is being held in the Stone County Detention Center in Mountain View charged in connection with multiple theft incidents in two counties.

Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds says Whitman’s alleged crime spree began in June 2017. An individual contacted the Stone County Sheriff’s Office to report his four-wheeler had been stolen from his residence along Sunny Fox Road. The four-wheeler was parked under a security light in the yard of the residence. The homeowner also reported a shotgun missing from the back seat of his pickup.

In September 2017, the Stone County Sheriff’s Office took a report of a residence along Benson Lane having been entered and a number of hand tools taken, along with a surveillance camera.

That same month, an individual reported someone has broken into a residence along Hanover Road, with numerous items stolen.

Earlier this month, a Stone County Sheriff’s deputy was dispatched to a residence along Gunner Pool Road where a 4×4 ATV was reported stolen from a storage building at a residence serving as a hunting cabin.

The following day, a Stone County investigator working with a Cleburne County Sheriff’s Office detective determined the ATV taken the previous day had been located after a pursuit with the stolen vehicle, leading to Whitman’s arrest.

In a post Miranda interview, Whitman allegedly confessed to the string of incidents.

He has been charged with residential burglary, three counts of breaking or entering, and four counts of theft of property, with bond set at $10,000.
