The Arkansas State Police Troop I, covering eight counties in North Central Arkansas, is getting a new headquarters.
The Harrison Daily Times reports work is progressing on the new facility being built on U.S. Hwy. 65 South near the Boone County jail facility.
The new building will be around 12,000 feet in size and will house the offices for the State Police highway patrol officers, the Criminal Investigation Division (CID), the Crimes Against Children Division (CACD) offices, and the Drivers Testing offices.
The new Troop I headquarters is expected to be completed at the end of December of this year. The contractor for the facility is Western Millwright Construction Services.
Troop I is the headquarters for the State Police in Baxter, Boone, Fulton, Izard, Marion, Newton, Searcy, and Stone counties. Captain Wesley Smithee is the commander for Troop I.
