Universal/MotownEarlier this month, Diana Ross made chart history when a remix single featuring her 1980 hits “I’m Coming Out” and “Upside Down” topped the Billboard Dance Club Songs list.
The original versions of those same two songs reached #1 on the same chart back in August of 1980, and “I’m Coming Out” also topped the magazine’s Hot 100 tally that year.
In January of this year, a remix of Ross’ 1970 #1 Hot 100 hit “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” also reached the top of the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. This marks the first time that an artist has had back-to-back #1 hits on the Dance Club Songs list with tunes that previously reached the top of a Billboard chart.
The “I’m Coming Out”/”Upside Down” remix is currently #10 on the Billboard Dance Club Songs chart. An album featuring nine remixes of the two tunes was released this past Friday, August 10.
The “Ain’t No Mountain High Enough” remix also appears on the Diamond Diana: The Legacy Collection compilation, which was released in December 2017.
