MH to host Jonesboro for conference opener, Pink Out Night

Week four of the high school football season in Arkansas also marks Pink Out Night for Mountain Home. The Bombers will begin 6A-East action Friday as they wrap up their two-game home stand against Jonesboro.

Mountain Home comes into the game at 0-3 on the season. The Bombers’ last game was two weeks ago when they fell at home to Nettleton. Jonesboro brings a 1-2 record into the game. The Golden Hurricane went to Little Rock last week and was doubled up by Catholic.

Mountain Home head coach Bryan Mattox says Jonesboro will be a tough opponent.

Kickoff at Bomber Stadium is schedule for 7 p.m. Friday’s game can be heard on Classic Hits 101.7 and streaming live at ktlo.com. Coverage begins around 5:30 with the Electric Cooperatives of Arkansas High School Gameday.

Prior to the game, the Mountain Home School District will host the Pink Out Party at the stadium beginning at 5:00. The party will celebrate and honor those who have fought cancer and donations will be accepted in support of the Peitz Cancer Support House. Food will be provided.

Elsewhere in the 6A-East, Searcy hosts Jacksonville, Sylvan Hill entertains Pine Bluff, and Marion is home against West Memphis.

Yellville-Summit will open 3A-2 action on the road. The Panthers’ first conference opponent will be Melbourne.

Yellville-Summit’s record stands at 1-2. The Panthers finished non-league action last week with a loss at Berryville. Melbourne is 2-1 on the year. The Bearkatz are coming off a home victory over Cave City.

Yellville-Summit head coach Lucas Morris says the team has spent the week putting the focus more its own game plan than Melbourne’s.

Also in the 3A-2, Marshall is now idle as Rose Bud has cancelled the remainder of its season, Mountain View entertains Cedar Ridge, and Clinton travels to Searcy to meet Harding Academy.

Elsewhere on the local Arkansas schedule, Harrison is home against Morrilton.

There is one matchup between teams ranked in the Arkansas Sports Media top ten. Third-ranked Bryant hosts number five Fort Smith Northside.

Friday marks week five and the mid-way point for the season in Missouri, and West Plains will compete in battle between ranked teams. The Zizzers, ranked fourth in Class 4, will entertain the eighth-ranked team in Class 5 from Lebanon.

Among Missouri’s other area schools, Hollister makes the trip to Marshfield, Forsyth is home against Pierce City, Branson hosts Joplin, Ava heads to Salem, Missouri, Willow Springs entertains Mountain View-Liberty, Thayer travels to Houston, and Mountain Grove makes the trip to Cabool.
