
The Mountain Home School Board held its regular September meeting Thursday night where they heard multiple reports and also approved the purchase of new buses.
The board heard from principals from each school as part of the annual report to the public according to superintendent Dr. Jake Long.

Long says the Mountain Home School Board also approved several new policies and approved funding for some new school buses.

The purchase price for the four buses totals $354,910. The district is purchasing three buses with diesel engines and one with a gasoline engine. The district is going to determine if using the gasoline engine can prove to be more cost effective. Transportation Director Steve Bellnap says the bus fleet runs close to 2,000 miles per day, and they have several buses with over 200,000 miles on them.
The board also approved the purchase of a new lawn mower for the maintenance department at a price of $12,723 to replace a 14-year-old mower.
