
Are Alternate Fuel Vehicles Really New? by Jack The Car Guy Fortner will be the topic at the next meeting of the Baxter County Historical and Genealogical Society set for Tuesday evening at 6:00. The meeting will be in the Knox Room at the Donald W. Reynolds Library Serving Baxter County, located at 300 Library Hill in Mountain Home.
State Representative Fortner has been an elected member of the Arkansas House of Representatives since November of 2016. He sits on the public transportation committee, the agriculture, forestry and economic development committee and joint performance review.
Formerly, Fortner has served the people of Marion County as a member of the Marion County Regional Airport Board, the Planning Commission and is a former Marion County Justice of the Peace. He is a member of the Arkansas Cattlemens Association, American Legion #61 and a former member of Rotary International.
Fortner says one of his greatest honors is having the opportunity to teach young people. He was a leader in a church boys organization for over 30 years. Fortner and his wife, Pam, are active at Twin Lakes Baptist Church in Mountain Home. He teaches the junior Sunday school class. He believes we have no more valuable asset than our children.
Fortner is a veteran of the United States Navy, serving during the Vietnam War.
He has had several successful auto-related businesses and has worked for Goodyear Racing at NASCAR races for many years. He is also local radio personality Jack the Car Guy on KTLO.
The Baxter County Historical Society meets the fourth Tuesday of each month at 6:00. Meetings are free and open to the public.
