BRMC, jail projects among building permits issued

A remodel at Baxter Regional Medical Center and the expansion of the Baxter County Detention Center are among four commercial building permits issued by the City of Mountain Home during the months of August and September, according to Roberta Pack from the building inspection department.

The 2,000-square-foot remodel at BRMC at a construction value of $750,000 is for the pharmacy compounding room, according to a hospital spokesperson.

The permit for the county jail expansion was issued to Smith Doyle Contractors for over 8,400 square feet of heated area, with over 1,743 square feet of unheated space. The construction value of the project was listed at $3.8 million.

Two other commercial building permits were listed on the report. Americom Construction Company was issued a permit for Hopper Environmental Services, Incorporated, located at 1593 Rossi Road, for an addition of an office and two bedrooms. The construction value was listed at $129,000.

A permit was issued to Mark King for a remodel at 650 Market Street. The combined heated and unheated area of 4,750 square feet has a construction value of $211,000.

A residential remodel permit was issued to John Downing at 600 East Eighth Street. The 800-square-foot project has a construction value of $14,000.

Nine sign permits were issued during the two-month period. Permits were issued for new or replacement signage at Jack’s Package Store, two Bank of the Ozarks locations, Harps-Western Union, Ozark Hills Insurance, IF Design Studio, Ohmie’s Vape and Glass Emporium, Mitchell’s Variety and The Cracked Egg.

Six permits were issued for storage buildings and a detached carport.

BRMC was issued a permit for a storage building with a construction value of $100,000. Also receiving permits for storage buildings or sheds were Loretta Nothwehr at 1707 Franklin Avenue, with a value of $850; Peaceful Heart Boutique at 1076 Hometown Commons, with a value of $1,500; Mary Delaneit at 918 East First Street, with a value of $2,100; and Raymond Newmann at 2003 Ivy Lane, with a value of $700.

A permit was issued for a detached carport to Roy Hamby at 952 South college Street, with a value of $1,800.

One permit was issued for a new driveway to contractor Jim Long for Dwayne Hengst at 722 Ridgewood.

Total construction value of the 39 permits issued for the quarter ending Sept. 30th was $10.6 million.

The cost of all building permits issued for the quarter totaled $24,292, including the actual cost of building, electric, mechanical and plumbing permits, as well as 30-day permits and mowing fees.

The city building and inspection department handled 186 inspections for the quarter.
