An ordinance directing and ordering the removal or razing of yard structures at 1710 Lilac Lane in Mountain Home is one of three items of business on the Mountain Home City Council’s agenda Thursday evening at 6:00.The proposed ordinance follows a group of neighbors appearing before the city council in July to express their dislike of a koi pond erected in the front lawn of the residence in the Southern Meadows subdivision.Citizen Randy Rawley told the council at the July meeting he feels the koi pond is in violation of a city ordinance under the terms of “public nuisance” and “unsightly.”

The proposed ordinance the council will consider calls for the city to remove or raze structures that have become dilapidated, unsightly, unsafe, unsanitary, obnoxious or detrimental to the public welfare.

It goes on to read city officials have inspected the property on Lilac Lane and found consistently the yard structures/improvements are in a condition that are “unsafe and likely to entice, lure or otherwise attract small children and others” and result in harm to such individuals.

It notes the property is a breeding ground for insects, rodents and other animals. Further the unfinished landscaping is unsafe, unsanitary and detrimental to the health and welfare of the citizens of Mountain Home.

In other business, the council will consider ordinances waiving competitive bidding and authorizing the purchase of three aerators and two pumps.

The meeting will be held in the council chambers of the Municipal Building.
