The official Election Day is Nov. 6th, but Arkansans can begin voting Monday. Early voting gets underway and continues through Nov. 5th.
In addition to the candidates, Arkansas ballots also include a few different issues to vote on, but Baxter County and Circuit Clerk Canda Reese says a couple will not be counted.
Listen:
One ballot initiative that will be counted is Issue 2, a proposed amendment to the Arkansas Constitution requiring a valid photo identification when casting a ballot. Reese says this issue can be confusing because a law has already been passed by the state legislature requiring an I.D.

The biggest difference in this year’s election for Baxter County residents is polling locations. In September, the Baxter County Quorum Court approved vote centers. Reese says voters in the county will be able to cast a ballot from any of the vote centers, including the Baxter County Courthouse.
Listen:
In addition to the courthouse, other vote centers on Election Day are Big Flat City Hall, Christ Community Church (also known as C3) in the Twin Lakes Plaza, East Side Baptist Church in Mountain Home, the Henderson Fire Department, Lone Rock Baptist Church, the Charles R. Newton Emergency Services Center in Midway, the Northeast Lakeside Fire Department, Norfork Baptist Church, the Salesville Community Center and Wesley United Methodist Church in Cotter.
For early voting, Baxter County residents will be able to vote at the courthouse and C3. Hours will be weekdays from 8:00 until 6:00 and Saturdays from 10:00 until 4:00.
For anyone casting a ballot at the courthouse, Reese says the back entrance facing Sixth Street is handicap accessible.

Anyone in Baxter County with further questions can contact the clerk’s office at 870-425-3475. Other residents can contact the clerks in their respective counties.
