The Mountain Home High School volleyball team won a thrilling five-set match in the opening round of the Class 5A State Tournament at Jonesboro Tuesday evening. Mountain Home defeated Hot Springs Lakeside, the top seed from the 5A South, 3-2.
Mountain Home won the first two sets, the Lady Rams dominated the next two sets then Mountain Home needed extra points to win the final set. The Lady Bombers took the first two sets by scores of 25-18 and 25-22. Lakeside then won the third and fourth sets by identical scores of 25-13. In the fifth set, Mountain Home was able to win 18-16.
The Lady Rams end the season with a record of 20-7. The Lady Bombers are now 17-7 and will face Siloam Springs Wednesday afternoon at 3:00 in the quarterfinals.
