Charges against a Gainesville man accused of having sex with a minor have been dropped. Thirty-three-year-old Bryan Mohr was arrested in August on charges of having sex with a 16-year-old girl who had been living in his house. He was charged at the time with three counts of statutory sodomy and one count of statutory rape.
The Ozark County Times reports the state is discontinuing the case after no witnesses would testify. The Ozark County Prosecutor’s office says they have nolle prossed the case, meaning the case can be refiled at a later time within the statute of limitations.
Mohr was originally arrested after authorities received a complaint of sexual assault involving a minor. During the investigation, Mohr reportedly told law enforcement the 16-year-old girl had been staying at his home but he denied having sex with the girl.
Another person who was at the home with Mohr and the juvenile when officers arrived reportedly said he had recently seen the two kiss in the living room, while the juvenile reportedly told the case worker that she and Mohr had sex on at least four occasions.
Mohr was taken into custody and allegedly admitted to having sex with the girl four or five times, stating that he had developed romantic feelings for her several years prior.
The alleged incidents are believed to have taken place between June 15th and Aug. 9th, according to the report.
