West Memphis dominating in win over Bombers

The West Memphis football team proved why they are the 6A East Conference champions Thursday night as they put on a dominating performance against Mountain Home. The Blue Devils raced out to a 35-0 halftime lead and won the game 35-7.

In the first half, West Memphis rolled up 314 yards of total offense while their stifling defense held the Bombers to just 54 yards.

Owens McConell had a big first half for the Blue Devils, completing 7 of 8 passes for 222 yards and four touchdowns. The junior quarterback hooked up with Latavius Tucker on TD passes covering 79 and 26 yards, Devin Olloway had a 53 yard touchdown catch and Jimmy Phillips caught a 21 yard scoring strike. Running back Latavian Thomas got the scoring started with a two yard run.

Mountain Home was able to get on the board in the fourth quarter. Lawson Stockton came in for injured quarterback Dawson Tabor and led the Bombers on an
18-play 80-yard drive. Stockton finished the drive with a 7 yard touchdown run.

The Bombers finish the year at 0-10 and 0-7 in the 6A East. West Memphis is 10-0 and 7-0 heading into the post season.
