A Mountain Home woman admitted violating the terms and conditions of her probation on an earlier conviction and was sentenced to five years in prison with two years to be spent in one of the Community Corrections Centers in the state and three years suspended.

The change of plea and sentence came during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.

Twenty-five-year-old Kendra Ellis was initially arrested in late March 2016 when officers were dispatched to an apartment in the Midway area for a possible domestic disturbance.

During the investigation of the incident, the officers were in the process of arresting Ellis when she asked to take a white jewelry box sitting on a dresser in the apartment. The officers wisely declined her request.

The box contained a syringe partially loaded with a clear liquid field testing positive for methamphetamine. While she was being booked into the Baxter County jail, Ellis was also found to have hidden a small plastic bag containing a substance also testing positive for methamphetamine.

Ellis was given five years probation in the earlier drug-related charges. She violated the terms and conditions of her probation in a number of ways, and a petition to revoke the probation was filed in early June.
