Mitchell Leff/Getty Images(PISCATAWAY, N.J. ) — Rutgers women’s basketball head coach C. Vivian Stringer made history Tuesday night when the Scarlet Knights defeated Central Connecticut State.
With the 73-44 win, Stringer achieved her 1,000th career win, becoming the sixth women’s head coach in NCAA history to do so. She joins Tennessee’s Pat Summitt, Stanford’s Tara VanDerveer, Connecticut’s Geno Auriemma, North Carolina’s Sylvia Hatchell and Bentley’s Barbara Stevens.

In men’s college basketball, Duke’s Mike Krzyzewski has been the only coach to reach 1,000 wins.
