MHJH hoops teams sweep Valley Springs on Tuesday scoreboard

High school and junior high basketball teams in the area got their final games in before the Thanksgiving break Tuesday night.

In high school hoops, Flippin lost both senior high games against Calico Rock. The Pirates won the boy’s contest 72-58 to improve to 10-0. The Bobcats fall to 7-7.
In the girl’s contest, Calico Rock downed Flippin 62-38. The Lady Pirates are now 3-6 while Flippin falls to 0-6.

Izard County swept Cross County at home. The Cougars are now 11-0 on the season after a 73-26 whipping of the Thunderbirds. Dylan Tharp paced Izard County with 17 points while Justus Cooper and Coby Everett each scored 11.
Izard County topped Cross County in the senior girl’s game 60-47. Alli Marlin scored 16 points and Ashlynn Bratcher and Maura Thomason each had 15 as the Lady Cougars improve to 7-3.
Izard County on the junior girl’s game 45-8. Ava Lewis led the way with 12 points, Allison Newman scored 11 and Lately Pate had 10.

The Salem boys downed Cedar Ridge 58-54 to improve to 1-1 on the season.

The Omaha boys were 73-23 winners over Bruno-Pyatt. The Eagles are now 5-6 while the Patriots fall to 3-11.

On the junior high level, Mountain Home won all four games at Valley Springs. The Junior Lady Bombers were 37-30 winners after overcoming a four-point halftime deficit. Abigail Hodges led the way with 15 points.
The Junior Bombers defeated Valley Springs 40-28. Duncan Conly pumped in 16 points for the Junior Bombers.
The Mountain Home 7th grade girls picked up a 20-19 win over Valley Springs when Jordan Massie hit the game winning shot with 8 seconds left.
Mountain Home took the 7th grade boy’s game 39-15. Braiden Dewey topped the score sheet with 12 points.
