ABC/Image Group LAIf you tuned in for Sunday’s premiere of Martina’s Table on Food Network, you know what a typical Thanksgiving Day celebration looks like for Martina McBride and her family.
But this year, the four-time CMA Female Vocalist of the Year is shaking things up, as she promotes her new Christmas album, It’s the Holiday Season, on the Macy’s Thanksgiving Day Parade.
“It’s tricky,” she admits. “The whole family’s coming to New York with me, and so we’ll all be there together for a couple of days before Thanksgiving.”
It also complicates things that her two older daughters, Delaney and Emma, now live in Los Angeles.
“We always decorate our Christmas tree together,” Martina explains. “It’s been a tradition. So they’re not coming back for Christmas until like the 20th of December. So I’ve got it in my mind that before we go to New York, we’re all gonna go pick out our Christmas tree. Then we’re gonna put it in some water on the front porch.”
Martina already has Thursday’s plan mapped out as well.
“We get up in the morning, we do the Thanksgiving Day parade, get on a plane, we fly home,” she says. “I’m gonna have some kind of meal. I don’t know if I’m gonna maybe have to order it in, get somebody to help me with that.”
“We sit down to the Thanksgiving dinner,” she continues. “We’re going to then decorate our Christmas tree. And then I’m gonna get on a bus and travel to Biloxi, Mississippi to do my first Christmas show. So yeah, it’s a lot!”
Martina’s The Joy of Christmas Tour starts Friday and wraps up Saturday, December 8 in Sugar Land, Texas.
