Courtesy of U.S. Postal ServiceLate Motown legend Marvin Gaye will be honored with his own “Forever Stamp” by the United States Postal Service in 2019, as part of its ongoing Music Icons series.

The stamp will feature a portrait of the influential singer and songwriter, known as the “Prince of Soul,” based on a historic photo showing him wearing a knit cap.

The stamp sheet is designed to resemble a 45 rpm single sleeve and includes a brief recap of Gaye’s career achievements, as well as another portrait of Marvin on the opposite side.

Another “Forever Stamp” scheduled to be released next year will celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Woodstock Music and Art Fair, the famous rock festival held in August 1969 in Bethel, New York.

The stamp features an image of the same dove that appeared on the iconic poster for the festival, which was designed by graphic artist Arnold Skolnick, along with the words “Woodstock 1969” and a key phrase from the poster describing the event as “3 Days of Peace and Music.”

The words on the stamp feature bright colors and balloon letters, reflecting the poster art of the psychedelic era of the late 1960s.
