A Baxter County man was injured following a one-vehicle accident Wednesday evening in Clarkridge. According to the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office, 58-year-old William Cobb of rural Mountain Home was transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center from the scene on County Road 36.

Baxter County 9-1-1 Dispatch advised emergency personnel at 8:49 Wednesday evening of a motor vehicle accident in the area of County Roads 36 and 16, and first responders reported the accident was bad. When a sheriff’s corporal arrived on the scene, first responders advised him the driver was at a residence on Arkansas Highway 5 North and was being transported to the hospital.

The accident scene reportedly appeared the pickup truck was traveling above the posted speed limit while negotiating a curve. The truck appeared to lose control and skid into the trees on the north side of the road, and when it came to a stop, it was laying on its passenger side.

The corporal later arrived at Baxter Regional and spoke with the driver, identified as Cobb. He told the deputy he swerved to miss a deer.

Cobb was cited for careless and prohibited driving. Damage to his truck was estimated at $10,000.
