Izard County law enforcement has arrested a man following a report from his father he was intoxicated and discharging a firearm inside a residence.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Monday, 26-year-old Jonathan Johnston, is charged with a felony count of possession of firearms by certain persons, meaning he is a convicted felon.

Early Sunday morning, officers responded to a address on Larkin Road between Melbourne and Violet Hill.

Johnston reportedly lives in a mobile home near his father’s residence. Deputies located Johnston in his home, sitting in a bedroom next to an open window on the back side of the home.

When asked what was in his pocket and to take his hand out, Johnston was reportedly non compliant. Officers located two knives and a spent .410 shell in Johnston’s pocket. A single shot .410 shotgun was located in the living room.

In 2017, Johnston was convicted of second-degree domestic battery, a class “C” felony, in Independence County. He is on active probation with Arkansas Department of Community Corrections.
