Local basketball teams have mixed results to finish tournament play

Omaha completed its run of hosting the Equity Bank Bev Stone Border Classic Saturday by splitting the championship games.
The Lady Eagles won the girls’ title by edging out Lead Hill 54-52. Omaha’s boys were runners-up after falling to Western Grove 64-59.
Flippin’s girls ended up finishing fourth in the tournament. The Lady Bobcats lost to Western Grove 62-43.

The Fordland Invitational Tournament came to an end Saturday as both of Lutie’s teams finished sixth. The Lady Indians fell to the School of the Ozarks 53-37, and the Lutie boys also lost to Morrisville 64-38. Dora’s girls’ ended up third with a 39-32 victory over Galena.

The Dora boys picked up another win in the River Country Chevrolet Classic at Thayer. The Falcons topped the host Bobcats 47-40.

Izard County’s boys rallied from a 13-point deficit in the consolation final of the Barry Pruitt Hurricane Classic at Jonesboro to take a lead with 47 seconds left, but Jonesboro Westside surged ahead to beat the Cougars 87-85. Izard County was led by Coby Everett with 22 points, Justus Cooper and Caleb Faulkner added 21 each, and Dylan Tharp chipped in ten. The Cougars drop to 13-2 on the year.

Valley Springs finished the annual Mini-State at Drew Central High School in Monticello by sweeping the host school. The Lady Tigers invoked the mercy rule by routing the Lady Pirates 62-24, and Valley Springs also won the boys’ game 63-42.
