There was a runoff election Tuesday in Izard County for a spot on the quorum court. Independent Randy “Hank” Sherrell was the winner over Republican John Walker for the district 3 spot on the court. Sherrell received 71 votes while Walker got 30.

It was a big turn around from what happened four weeks ago. In the November general election Walker had the most votes in the three-person race. Walker had 45 percent of the vote while Sherrell had 33 percent.

The two advanced to the runoff as the top two vote getters in the November general election. Democrat Jared Johnson was third in that vote with 22 percent.
