MH splits openers in Cabot tourney

The Mountain Home High School basketball teams opened the Cabot Pre-Holiday Classic with mixed results.

The Lady Bombers began the day in dominating fashion as they beat up on J.A. Fair by a final of 73-35 to advance to the semifinals. The game stayed fairly close in the first quarter, but Mountain Home quickly took over outscoring the Lady Eagles 25-6 in the second period. The Lady Bombers continued to pull away as the mercy rule went into effect the moment the final quarter began.
Anna Grace Foreman led Mountain Home with 17 points, and Addison Yates added ten. The Lady Bombers improve to 3-2 on the season, and they’ll meet Beebe on Friday. Fair drops to 0-4.

Mountain Home’s boys did not fare as well as they were sent to the consolation side of the bracket with a 57-46 loss to Pulaski Academy. The first period ended with the Bruins up 14-9, but they pulled further away outscoring the Bombers 15-5 in the second quarter. Mountain Home cut slightly into their deficit in the third quarter, but the final period was played fairly even as P.A. went on to win by 11.
The Bombers were led by Mat Jones and Wyatt Gilbert with 14 points each. For the Bruins, E.J. Anderson scored 21 points, and Alex Brogdon chipped in 14.
Mountain Home falls to 2-3 on the year, and they’ll take on Little Rock Catholic on Friday.
