Atlantic/RhinoPhil Collins‘ ongoing solo reissue campaign will continue in 2019 with the February 1 release of remastered edition of two archival live albums — 1990’s Serious Hits…Live! and 1999’s A Hot Night in Paris.
Released in November 1990, Serious Hits…Live! features performances from various stops on Collins’ tour in support of his chart-topping 1989 studio album, …But Seriously. The live record peaked at #11 on the Billboard 200 and has sold more than 4 million copies in the U.S. to date.
Serious Hits…Live! includes renditions of a variety of Phil’s popular singles, among them “Against All Odds (Take a Look at Me Now),” “One More Night,” “Don’t Lose My Number,” “Do You Remember?,” “Another Day in Paradise,” “Separate Lives,” “In the Air Tonight,” “Two Hearts,” “Sussudio” and his covers of The Supremes‘ “You Can’t Hurry Love” and The Mindbenders‘ “A Groovy Kind of Love.” In addition, there’s a live version of his smash duet with Earth, Wind and Fire‘s Philip Bailey, “Easy Lover,” featuring Bailey himself.
A Hot Night in Paris was released by Collins’ side project The Phil Collins Big Band, and features performances by the group from 1998 that include instrumental renditions of songs from Phil’s solo career and his band Genesis, as well as covers of Miles Davis‘ “Milestones” and The Average White Band‘s “Pick Up the Pieces.” Among the other musicians in the group were longtime Genesis and Collins touring guitarist Daryl Stuermer and acclaimed jazz-fusion keyboardist George Duke.
Both reissues will be available on CD, vinyl and digitally formats, while this will mark the first time A Hot Night in Paris will be released on vinyl.
