Cotter was able to sweep a pair of high school basketball games over Haas Hall Academy Friday at Fayetteville.
The Lady Warriors put the mercy rule in effect as they routed the Lady Mastiffs 74-29. Samantha Sanchez was Cotter’s top scorer with 15 points, and Hailey Cunningham and Christianne Crunkleton each added ten.
The boys’ game was not as lopsided, but Cotter was able to beat Haas Hall 60-53. Cole Adams paced the Warriors with 23 points, and Dylan Dwyer chipped in 15.
Yellville-Summit picked up a pair of high school victories at Decatur. The Panthers invoked the mercy rule in the boys’ game by pounding the Bulldogs 73-41. The girls’ game went down to the wire as Yellville-Summit edged out Decatur 48-47.
It was a rough night for Bruno-Pyatt’s boys on their home floor. The Patriots fell to Viola 82-51.
Bakersfield split a pair of games with Chadwick. The Lady Lions topped the Lady Cardinals 55-44. Bakersfield’s boys were not as fortunate as they lost to Chadwick 60-50.
The Gainesville boys had a rough home outing Friday. The Bulldogs fell to Thayer 61-25.
Mammoth Spring swept its high school games at home over Maynard.
The Bears invoked the mercy rule in the boys’ game as they destroyed the Tigers 62-32. Mammoth Spring was led by Zack Flynn with 16 points, Alex Mero scored 12, and Cole Young and Jacob Golden added 11 points each. The Bears improve to 10-7 on the season and 4-0 in the 1A-3.
Mammoth Spring also won the girls’ contest over Maynard 47-43. Stephine Henry was the Lady Bears’ leading scorer with 12 points, and Lauren Mitchell and Chevelle Graves each had ten. Mammoth Spring is now 9-6 overall and 2-1 in the league.
Calico Rock had mixed results as they hosted Mountain View. The Pirates won the boys’ game over the Yellowjackets 56-44. It was a different result in the girls’ game as Calico Rock fell to Mountain View 64-46.
Izard County was able to pick up a three-game sweep at Lead Hill.
The boys’ game ended with the Cougars beating the Tigers 66-31. Justus Cooper led Izard County with 12 points, and Dalton Dillard and Isaac Jones added ten points each. The Cougars improve to 16-2 on the year and 8-0 in the 1A-2.
Izard County also won the senior girls’ contest over Lead Hill 46-42. The Lady Cougars were led by Bethany Simmons with 17 points, and Abbi Marlin chipped in 13. Izard County is now 11-4 overall and 5-3 in conference play.
The evening began with Izard County’s junior girls topping Lead Hill 27-17.
Marshall’s high school teams were swept at home by Valley Springs. The Lady Bobcats fell to the Lady Tigers 51-43. Marshall also lost the boys’ contest to Valley Springs 71-44.
Timbo had mixed results as they went to Greers Ferry to meet West Side. The Tigers were able to defeat the Eagles 58-40 in the boys’ game. Timbo was not as fortunate in the girls’ contest as they lost to West Side 80-32.
Rural Special lost both of its high school games at home to Mount Vernon-Enola. The Lady Rebels fell to the Lady Warhawks 66-51. Rural Special later lost the boys’ game 63-43.
Omaha’s girls had a tough night in Springdale. The Lady Eagles fell to Shiloh Christian 64-55.
Jasper swept a pair of high school games at home over Kingston. The Pirates took the boys’ game over the Yellowjackets 54-50. Jasper squeaked by Kingston in the girls’ game 49-48.
Mountain Home Christian Academy was able to sweep a pair of boys’ games at home over Mountain Grove Christian Academy.
The Eagles took the varsity game by a final of 73-69. Cooper Long was Mountain Home Christian’s top scorer with 24 points, and Matt Woods added 18.
In the 14-and-under boys’ game, Mountain Home Christian beat Mountain Grove Christian 63-29. Gideon Spray paced the 14-and-under Eagles with 16 points, and Landon Jines chipped in 11.
