The Mountain Home High School basketball teams had mixed results as they hosted Bentonville West to wrap up their two-game home stand.
The Lady Bombers began the evening by defeating the Lady Wolves 54-42. The two teams had five lead changes and two ties in the early going, but Mountain Home began pulling away in the second quarter. The Lady Bombers kept a double digit advantage for much of the second half. Bentonville West cut the deficit back to single digits in the final period, but Mountain Home kept their distance and went on to win by a dozen.
Payton Huskey led the Lady Bombers with 18 points, and Emma Martin added 16. For the Lady Wolves, Shania Wilson scored 18 points.
Mountain Home improves to 6-3 on the season. Bentonville West falls to 3-5.
The Bombers did not fare as well in the boys’ contest as they fell to the Wolves 52-47. Mountain Home had to make a comeback to go into the locker room down three at halftime. Bentonville West made another run in the second half to create some distance. The Bombers made another comeback toward the end, but the Wolves held on for the five-point victory.
Mountain Home was led by Luke Kruse with 12 points, and Colton Peters chipped in 11. Dillon Bailey had 14 points for Bentonville West, and Dawson Bailey finished with 12.
The Bombers drop to 2-6 on the year. The Wolves are now 4-4.
Mountain Home returns to the road Thursday as they play their last games before the Christmas holiday against Russellville.
