After joining his old band mate Brian Wilson on a just-completed holiday tour, founding Beach Boys singer Al Jardine is set to mount his own solo trek that will bounce across the U.S. in the New Year.
Jardine’s outing will kick off with a two-night engagement on January 19 and 20 at the Blue Note Hawaii in Honolulu; it’s currently mapped out through a February 12-13 stand in Minneapolis.
The 76-year-old Rock & Roll Hall of Famer also will visit venues in California, Arizona, New York, Connecticut and Massachusetts during the tour. At the intimate shows, Jardine will perform songs spanning his entire career, from early Beach Boys tunes through selections from his 2010 solo album, A Postcard from California. In November, the album was issued on vinyl for the first time in conjunction with the Record Store Day Black Friday event.
In addition, Al will share stories behind his songs, including a number of deep cuts. He’ll be accompanied at the concerts by his son Matt Jardine, as well as singer/multi-instrumentalist Jeff Alan Ross.
