PINE BLUFF, Ark. (AP)   Police in Pine Bluff say a 14-year-old boy remains in critical condition after he was shot while unlocking the front door of his grandmother’s home.

Police said Monday that the boy was an “innocent bystander” after a gunman in a vehicle opened fire on another vehicle nearby. The boy’s grandmother told police that her grandson was unlocking the front door when she heard shots being fired from across the street.

Authorities also discovered a wrecked vehicle near the scene of the shooting. That driver told police that someone opened fire on his vehicle, which caused him to crash. He was not hit by gunfire or seriously hurt in the wreck.

Pine Bluff police said the shooting occurred Wednesday, but no arrests have been made.
