COLUMBIA, Mo. – Missouri sophomore forward Jeremiah Tilmon was named Southeastern Conference Player of the Week, as announced by the league office on Monday. It’s the first SEC Player of the Week honor in Tilmon’s career and Mizzou’s first since Kassius Robertson took home the award on Feb. 12 of last season.

Tilmon was dominant last week, leading Mizzou to big wins over Xavier (71-56) and Illinois (79-63) while averaging 19.5 points and 11.0 rebounds per game. He recorded back-to-back double-doubles in those pair of victories and has now posted a double-double in four of the last six games. Tilmon has reached double figures in six consecutive games, which is the longest streak of his career. Mizzou improved to 7-1 when he reaches double figures after last week.

Last Tuesday, Tilmon poured in a career-high 23 points vs. Xavier behind a career-best 10 made field goals while grabbing 10 rebounds. It was the most points scored by a Tiger in a double-double performance since Ryan Rosburg in 2016.

Tilmon followed with 16 points and a career-high 12 rebounds in front of a raucous crowd at the Enterprise Center in St Louis to help steer Mizzou to a convincing victory over Illinois. He shot 7-of-11 from the field in the annual Braggin’ Rights clash and added two blocked shots, all while battling flu-like symptoms.

Tilmon continues to shoot at a blistering place, shooting 65.4 percent last week and a team-high 56.7 percent for the season. He’s made 24 of his last 36 field goal attempts after making 17-of-26 this past week vs. Xavier and Illinois.

Mizzou is riding a five-game win streak, the third such streak of the Cuonzo Martin era. Mizzou’s recent run of four wins by 15+ points in four consecutive games is its first since Dec. 1-Dec. 17 of 2012.

Mizzou will enjoy a week off over the holidays, playing next against Morehead State at Mizzou Arena on Saturday. Tipoff is slated for 1 p.m. CT.
