A lawsuit was filed in Boone County Circuit Court Wednesday aimed at opening the records of North Arkansas Regional Medical Center in Harrison.Four Boone County residents have requested public documents from the Harrison medical facility under the Freedom of Information Act, with the suit alleging NARMC has failed and refused to produce the information.Fort Smith attorney Joey McCutchen says the hospital corporation leases a facility from Boone County for $25 a year and receives public grant funding. McCutchen argues, consequently, the hospital’s records should be open under the Freedom of Information Act.
The documents requested include minutes of all board meetings since Jan. 1st, 2017, the medical center’s bylaws, documentation regarding any state or federal grants awarded to the hospital since Jan. 1st, 2015, and a copy of all grant applications submitted to the Arkansas Inpatient Quality Incentive program since Jan. 1st, 2015.
Plaintiffs in the case are E. George Geier, Frank W. Hampson, Dr. Bill Ray Lewis and Bobby L. Pinson.
