High school basketball makes up the local Thursday schedule and includes the start of Mountain Home’s big holiday event. The First Arkansas Bail Bonds Tournament will begin its three-day run.
The Lady Bombers’ first opponent will be Hermitage. Mountain Home is currently 6-4 on the season after falling at Russellville a week ago. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
The Bomber boys will follow by meeting Mountain Home Christian Academy in the last game of the night. Mountain Home has a record of 2-7 following last Thursday’s loss at Russellville. The Eagles are 10-3 on the year. Gametime is set 8:30.
In other girls’ games, Highland and Paragould get underway at 10 a.m., Norfork faces Farmington at 1:00, and Wonderview takes on Watson Chapel. On the boys’ bracket, Cave City will be paired with Farmington at 11:30, Paragould plays Clarendon at 2:30, and Brinkley meets Hamburg at 5:30.

Two local girls’ teams will continue action in the Mountain Grove Holiday Tournament. Dora faces Summersville at 9 a.m., and Gainesville takes on Van Buren at noon.
The boys’ teams from Gainesville and Dora will also resume play in the Cabool Holiday Tournament. The Bulldogs will be matched up with Summersville at 1:30, and the Falcons play Plato at 7:30.
The NEA Invitational Basketball Tournament will get back underway Thursday. Viola’s girls will compete for third place in Division II as they meet Trumann at noon on the campus of Brookland High School. Two area boys’ teams will compete in the Division I semifinals at First National Bank Arena in Jonesboro as Salem faces Ridgefield Christian at 1:30, and Mammoth Spring takes on Rector at 4:30.
Calico Rock’s high school squads will be in Shirley for the opening day of the Greers Ferry Lake Classic. The Pirates will play Midland at 11:15 on the boys’ side, and the Calico Rock girls will meet Quitman at 3:00.
Two local boys’ teams will return to Highland to continue action in the Bad Boy Mowers Ronnie Brogdon Classic. Melbourne gets underway at noon against the host Junior Varsity Rebels in the consolation bracket, and Izard County will face Pulaski Academy at 6:00 in the quarterfinals.
Two area schools will send their high school teams to Berryville for the start of the tenth-annual Cornerstone Bank Holiday Hoops Tournament. On the girls’ bracket, Mountain View takes on Huntsville at 12:40, and Bergman goes up against eStem at 3:20. In the boys’ games, Mountain View meets White County Central at 2:00, and Bergman faces Central Arkansas Christian at 4:40.
