A three-day music extravaganza commemorating the 50th anniversary of the 1969 Woodstock festival will be held at the site of the historic event on August 16-18, 2019, at Bethel Woods Center for the Arts in Bethel, New York.
Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival will feature performances by well-known acts and up-and-coming artists from various genres and eras, as well as TED-style lectures by experts in technology and other fields.
Attendees also will be able to visit The Museum at Bethel Woods, which features memorabilia from the ’69 Woodstock festival and interactive displays focusing on the decade of the 1960s. In addition, a new exhibit titled “We Are Golden: Reflections on the 50th Anniversary of the Woodstock Festival and Aspirations for an Aquarian Future,” will be opening at the museum in 2019.
“Fifty years ago, people gathered peacefully on our site inspired to change the world through music,” says Bethel Woods Center for the Arts CEO Darlene Fedun. “As the stewards of this historic site, we remain committed to preserving this rich history and spirit, and to educating and inspiring new generations to contribute positively to the world through music, culture, and community.”
A full lineup and ticketing details will be unveiled soon.
It’s worth noting that original Woodstock festival promoters Michael Lang and Artie Kornfeld aren’t associated with the Bethel Woods Music and Culture Festival. In November, Lang told the Poughkeepsie Journal that “definite plans” were in the works for an event celebrating Woodstock’s 50th anniversary, noting that an official announcement would be coming soon.
The Woodstock Music and Art Fair was held August 15-18, 1969.
