In addition to using it for her random musings and updates about her career, Cher has always used her Twitter account to speak out about political issues. So when she saw a joke t-shirt for sale online that reads, “Cher 2020/Turn Back Time,” she decided to respond.
Commenting on a photo of the t-shirt, Cher wrote, “As 4 Running, Im Considering My Options. Have a Little Info Of Gov, Never Driven Casino Into Bankruptcy, Stolen From MY Foundation, Lied About My Fake University, Put Kids In Cages, & I’m not Racist Bigot, Liar.”
Fans responded positively to the idea of Cher running for office, though it seems to be a joke. One replied, “MACA: Make America Cher Again.” Others tweeted the hashtag “#Cher2020,” while another wrote, “And I’m seeing @BobMackie designing all your state of the union outfits as well and OMG the entrances FABULOUS.”
Still another tweeted, “The world is ready” next to a t-shirt that reads “I’m with Cher.” And a fan from Canada pledged, “I will move to the U.S. and pursue residency if it means I can vote for you!”
But one Twitter user, replying to Cher’s initial post, noted sarcastically, “Well, if you haven’t done any of those things, you really don’t belong in politics at all.”
