MH wins openers in First Arkansas Bail Bonds Tournament

The First Arkansas Bail Bonds Tournament wrapped up its first day of action at Mountain Home High School with the host teams picking up victories.

The Lady Bombers were able to beat Hermitage by a final of 74-41. Mountain Home never trailed in the game. The Lady Bombers’ defense flustered the Lady Hermits and forced them into 26 turnovers. Mountain Home went on to invoke the mercy rule in the final period as they posted the 33-point victory.
Payton Huskey, Emma Martin and Anna Grace Foreman led the Lady Bombers with 13 points each, and Emily Payne added ten. For Hermitage, Cassidy Hollingsworth scored 19 points.
Mountain Home improves to 7-4 on the season. The Lady Hermits fall to 10-3.

In the other girls’ games, Norfork defeated Farmington 61-50, Paragould topped Highland 50-45, and Watson Chapel edged out Wonderview 45-44.

The Bomber boys wrapped up the night with a 66-43 victory over Mountain Home Christian Academy. The game stayed close early on as the first quarter ended with Mountain Home up three, but the Bombers began pulling away in the second period. Mountain Home continued gaining distance from the Eagles in the second half with a balanced scoring attack and went on to win by 23.
The Bombers were led by Wyatt Gilbert with 18 points. For Mountain Home Christian, Cooper Long finished with 17 points, and Matt Woods chipped in 13.
Mountain Home is now 3-7 on the year. The Eagles drop to 10-4.

In the earlier boys’ contests, Farmington was a 67-57 winner over Cave City, Clarendon topped Paragould 63-52, and Hamburg beat Brinkley 65-55.
