On Monday night, Kane Brown caps off a phenomenal 2018 by performing on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest for the second year in a row.
“It feels awesome, especially ’cause this show’s so big,” Kane tells ABC Radio. “So just to get the opportunity to come back and do it again, and I feel like everybody here is family now, so it’s cool,” he adds.
Ironically, the “Good as You” singer admits it didn’t dawn on him what an important place New Year’s Rockin’ Eve held in his memory, until he was actually on the special.
“It was crazy because I never realized the show that I was watching, because I was so young,” Kane explains. “And now I’m here, and I’m like, ‘Whoa! I remember watching this on TV.'”
In 2018, Kane won three American Music Awards, scored number ones with “Heaven” and “Lose It,” and debuted at the top of both the all-genre Billboard 200 and the country chart with his sophomore album, Experiment. On top of all that, in October, he got married. He says that makes it tough to pick a highlight of the past 12 months.
“I think it was just the whole year,” he reflects. “We did a lot of stuff that we didn’t expect to do with the AMAs, the album outsold our expectations, just a bunch of different things.”
Considering the breakout success Kane enjoyed in both 2017 and 2018, Kane’s goals for 2019 are simple.
“I just look forward to making my year better than the last two years,” he says.
You can watch for Kane, Lauren Alaina, Kelsea Ballerini, Florida Georgia Line, Maren Morris, and Dan + Shay on Dick Clark’s New Year’s Rockin’ Eve with Ryan Seacrest, at 8 p.m. ET tonight on ABC.
