Construction underway for new ASP Troop I headquarters

Work is progressing on the new Arkansas State Police Troop I headquarters building under construction on U.S. Hwy. 65 South near the Boone County jail.

The Harrison Daily Times reports the new building will be around 12,000 square feet in size and will house the offices for the Arkansas State Police highway patrol officers, the criminal investigation division, and space for the crimes against children division and driver’s testing.

The new Troop I headquarters is expected to be completed in early 2019.

The contractor for the facility is Western Millwright Construction Services.

Troop I is the headquarters for the Arkansas State Police in Boone, Baxter, Newton, Marion, Searcy, Stone, Fulton, and Izard counties. Captain Wesley Smithee is the commander for Troop I.
