The Rock & Roll Hall of Famers, who recently released a farewell album called The Last Word, will be singing their classic, chart-topping hit “Love Train.”
As previously announced, the concert extravaganza also will feature Carole King performing with the Broadway cast of Beautiful — the musical based on her life — including the new star of the stage show, Vanessa Carlton.
Other performers on the 2019 A Capitol Fourth bill include Vanessa Williams, Yolanda Adams, country singer Lee Brice, American Idol winner Laine Hardy and this season’s The Voice winner, Maelyn Jarmon, as well as pop star Colbie Caillat with her new country group, Gone West.
There will also a special performance celebrating the 50th anniversary of Sesame Street featuring many of the program’s famous Muppets. In addition, the National Symphony Orchestra, conducted by Jack Everly, will be playing along with a massive fireworks display. John Stamos will host the show.
In addition to PBS, the 39th annual A Capitol Fourth will be viewable on the Armed Forces Network, and will also stream live on Facebook, YouTube and PBS.org.
