In a preview clip of the program, which premieres this Sunday, June 30, at 8 p.m. ET/5 p.m. PT, Hagar explains the concept behind the multi-faceted event.
“The idea was just to try to put my stamp on it,” he says. “See, this isn’t a concert. This isn’t a typical festival. This is a party with some really good music.”
That “really good music” included performances by Hagar and his current group, The Circle, as well as by REO Speedwagon, ex-Motley Crue frontman Vince Neil and others.
“It’s basically everything I live and love in life,” Sammy says about the bash, noting that it features good music, tacos and other Mexican food, cocktails such as margaritas and mojitos, good beer, hula girls and “some cool cars” — all on the beach.
The preview also shows REO Speedwagon singer Kevin Cronin, who celebrated his 67th birthday at the event, being serenaded by a mariachi band and being presented a birthday cake by Hagar. Sammy also jokingly congratulates Kevin on turning 21.
As previously reported, Hagar’s second annual High Tide Beach Party & Car Show will be a two-day event taking place September 28 and 29. The extravaganza again will be headlined by Hagar & The Circle, who will be joined by ex-Bon Jovi guitarist Richie Sambora. The music lineup also includes Neil, The Beach Boys, Night Ranger, Blue Öyster Cult, KC and the Sunshine Band, ex-Outfield frontman Tony Lewis, Patty Smyth & Scandal, Extreme and more.
