More mixed results among area teams in USSSA state tournaments

Five area baseball teams were in action as state tournaments sanctioned by the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA) continued throughout Arkansas on Saturday.

One of Mountain Home’s 12-year-old squads began action in the Arkansas Class AA State Championships by winning both of its pool games in Conway. The Fury began by edging out the Arkansas Crusaders 7-6, and they later beat MBA 6-1.

Mountain Home’s 11-year-olds won their bracket opener in the Arkansas Class AA State Championships at Alma. The Bombers advanced to the quarterfinals with a 7-4 victory over the Fort Smith/Greenwood Warriors.

The Mountain Home 8-year-olds began the Arkansas Class AA Coaches Pitch State Championships with a split in their pool games at Maumelle. The Cardinals started by losing a high-scoring game to the Klutch 22-14. Mountain Home followed by beating up on Lester Perfect Timing 14-5.

Mountain Home’s other 12-year-old team was eliminated from the Arkansas Class A State Championships in Greenwood. The Pilots began the day with their pool finale ending in a 3-3 tie with the Faultline. The two teams played again in their bracket openers, and Mountain Home fell to the Faultline 10-2.

The Mountain Home Baseball Academy 7-year-olds did not fare any better in its last game of pool play in the Arkansas Class A Coaches Pitch State Championships at Cabot. Mountain Home lost to the Faultline 17-7.
