MH Fury finishes 2nd in state championships

State tournament play ended for four area baseball teams on Sunday. All tournaments were sanctioned by the United States Specialty Sports Association (USSSA).

Mountain Home’s 12-year-old Class AA team ended up as runners-up in the Arkansas State Championships at Conway. The Fury began bracket play by edging out the Kekambas 5-4. Mountain Home later squeaked by the Watson Prospects in a high-scoring game with a final score of 14-13. The Fury picked up another one-run win in the quarterfinals as they got past the Arkansas Ball Hawgs 9-8. Mountain Home was more dominant in its semifinal game with a 10-2 victory over the Conway Adrenaline. The Fury ran out of luck in the title game as they fell to the Fieldhouse Force 8-0.

The Mountain Home 11-year-olds ended up as semifinalists in the Arkansas Class AA State Championships at Alma. The Bombers’ first bracket game was a 7-4 win over the Fort Smith/Greenwood Warriors. Mountain Home later defeated the Sluggers Baseball Club 7-5. The Bombers were bounced from the final four after losing to the Sherwood Bears 6-4.

Mountain Home’s 8-year-olds were one and done in the bracket of the Arkansas Class AA Coaches Pitch State Championships at Maumelle. The Cardinals fell to the Klutch by a final of 15-4.

The Mountain Home Baseball Academy 7-year-olds lost their first game of bracket play in the Arkansas Class A Coaches Pitch State Championships at Cabot. Mountain Home lost to the J.D. Cardinals 17-4.
