RollingStone.com reports that Neil Young joined Bob Dylan to perform the old traditional tune “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” during Dylan’s set at the two legends’ joint show Sunday at Nowlan Park in Kilkenny, Ireland. You can check out fan-shot video of the performance on YouTube.
According to RollingStone.com, the last time Young and Dylan did a live duet together was at an October 20, 1994, show Bob played at Roseland Ballroom in New York City. Bruce Springsteen also took part in that ’94 performance.
This also marked the first time Dylan has played “Will the Circle Be Unbroken” in concert since a May 1976 show in Houston during his Rolling Thunder Revue tour. Interestingly, the first time Young and Dylan performed live together, at a 1975 benefit concert in San Francisco, they also sang “Will the Circle Be Unbroken.”
Neil and Bob also played a co-headlining show this past Friday, July 12, at London’s Hyde Park, but they didn’t perform together at that event.
The Kilkenny concert brought Young’s and Dylan’s respective European treks to a close. Bob currently has no other confirmed shows on his itinerary, while Neil’s only scheduled performance will be at the 2019 Farm Aid concert on September 21 in East Troy, Wisconsin.
Young also recently revealed that he plans to mount a tour with his old band Crazy Horse this fall to promote a new studio album that’s expected out.
