“Free Black Community Remnants of Northern Arkansas” by Vincent Anderson will be the topic when the Baxter County Historical and Genealogy Society meets Tuesday evening at 6. The meeting will be held in the Knox Room of the Donald W. Reynolds Library Serving Baxter County.

Anderson is a native of the Ozarks and works as a historian and reference librarian at the Baxter County Library. In 2016, Vincent was appointed by Arkansas Governor Asa Hutchinson to serve on the Prairie Grove Battlefield State Park Advisory Commission. In 2018, Anderson completed his graduate degree in American history from the American Military University in Charles Town, West Virginia.

Anderson enjoys researching the Ozark region and examining the progress of the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers in the Ozarks. Anderson’s purpose in these studies is to uncover the rich history of the Ozarks’ rivers and discover the influential people who harnessed its resources.
