UMe/VirginVeteran U.K. synth-pop group Orchestral Manoeuvres in the Dark, a.k.a. OMD, are celebrating their 40th anniversary this year, and in conjunction with the milestone, the band is releasing an expansive, career-spanning digital box set and a three-LP greatest-hits collection on October 4.
The Souvenir: Digital Box Set is a 98-track retrospective broken into five volumes and featuring all of OMD’s biggest hits, including the 1986 #4 hit “If You Leave,” and the top-20 singles “Dreaming” and “(Forever) Live and Die.” It also features a brand-new song, “Don’t Go.”
The first two volumes of the box set cover OMD’s singles from 1979 to 1987 and 1988 to 2019, respectively. The third volume features a variety of unreleased recordings, while the last two volumes include live performances at two different London venues in 2011 and 1983.
The digital box set will also be available for streaming.
The three-LP set features the same 40 tracks that are on the first two volumes of the box set. A digital compilation titled Souvenir: The Singles Collection 1979–2019 with those same 40 songs also will be available.
OMD is currently on tour in the U.S. with The B-52’s and Berlin. The trek continues tonight in Grand Prairie, Texas, and is mapped out through a September 24 show at the Central Park Summerstage in New York City.
