The forecast for extremely cold temperatures has led to some Buffalo National River facilities closing early for the season.
Buffalo National River winterizes and closes several visitor use facilities every year on Nov. 15. However, the forecast in the coming days is leading to six closures a few days ahead of schedule to protect the park’s infrastructure.
All areas not listed will remain open until the normally scheduled closure.
Buffalo Point group sites restroom closed Thursday, with restrooms at Steel Creek Campground, Upper Pruitt and Tyler Bend group sites and walk-in tent sites closed Friday.
The Tyler Bend Pavilion restroom and dump station and Buffalo Point Campground restrooms, showerhouses and dump station will close Sunday.
