Harrison voters rejected a pair of sales and use tax measures for a community recreation complex. Both measures were overwhelmingly voted down during Tuesday’s special election.
One of the measures featured a 3/4-percent temporary sales tax to finance the construction of a $39.9 million facility through the sale of bonds. The vote was 1,623 against and 949 in favor.
Harrison voters were also being asked to approve a 1/4-percent permanent sales tax to maintain the center after construction. The tally was 1,566 against and 1,003 in favor.
The results of Tuesday’s election are unofficial pending the certification from the Boone County Election Commission.
