BMGJohn Fogerty‘s 50 Year Trip: Live at Red Rocks concert film debuted in select theaters as a one-night-only screening event last month, and now a DVD of the movie is set for a January 24, 2020 release. That same day, a two-LP vinyl set featuring most of the show will also hit stores.

As previously reported, the 50 Year Trip movie documents a June 20, 2019, concert that the ex-Creedence Clearwater Revival frontman played at Red Rocks Amphitheatre in Morrison, Colorado. The show — part of John’s My 50 Year Trip tour — featured a bevy of classic CCR tunes, some of his solo hits and a special set of covers of songs that various artists performed at the 1969 Woodstock festival.

The latter tunes included The Who‘s “My Generation,” Sly & the Family Stone‘s “Everyday People” and “Dance to the Music,” and a Joe Cocker-style rendition of The Beatles‘ “With a Little Help from My Friends.” The concert also featured Fogerty’s guitar-playing son Shane, a member of John’s touring band, paying homage to Jimi Hendrix‘s famed version of “The Star Spangled Banner.”

Besides the concert footage, the film features interview segments of Fogerty sharing recollections and telling stories about some of the famous songs he created.

The two-LP 50 Year Trip album doesn’t include the six-song Woodstock tribute. A CD and digital edition of the record was released in October. The LP collection and DVD can be pre-ordered now at JohnFogertyShop.com.

Meanwhile, the concert film is airing this month on various PBS stations as part of their December pledge drives.
