The offer comes from Jerry Garcia Music Arts, an independent label launched in 2018 by the late Grateful Dead frontman’s daughter Keelin and his ex-wife, Manasha.
“We’re honored to help present a gift of my father’s music this holiday season,” says Keelin Garcia, who’s president of the label. “His music lives on for all to enjoy and celebrate.”
The remastered version of “Everybody Needs Somebody to Love” also appears on the archival Jerry Garcia Band live collection Electric on the Eel, which was released in March 2019 and features performances from concerts in 1987, 1989 and 1991 that the group played at French’s Camp in Piercy, California.
Also in conjunction with the holidays, prints of a pen-and-ink drawing by Jerry titled “Merry Christmas” that features a depiction of Santa Claus and a reindeer, and water-colored by Keelin, are available for purchase now through early January at TerrapinStationers.com.
Money raised by print sales will benefit Hot Tuna and ex-Jefferson Airplane member Jorma Kaukonen‘s Psylodelic Gallery, which is located at the musician’s Fur Peace Ranch venue in Pomeroy, Ohio. The gallery focuses on the art, culture and literature of the 1960s, and includes a permanent collection of Garcia’s fine art.
