For snow lovers in the Twin Lakes Area, it appears you will have to wait a while longer before seeing accumulation. While a major winter storm is expected to dump more than half a foot of snow in portions of southwest Missouri, the temperatures locally will keep most of the precipitation in liquid form.

There is a winter weather advisory for Ozark, Taney, Douglas and Howell counties in south central Missouri until 6 Thursday morning. Cory Rothstein with the National Weather Service in Springfield says precipitation in those counties starts as rain Wednesday morning before switching over to wintry precipitation.

Dylan Cooper with the National Weather Service in Little Rock says North Central Arkansas will see mostly liquid precipitation with the snow staying west and north of the area.

For those with travel plans west and north, accumulating snow is possible. An area from the southwest corner of Missouri, through Springfield and up to Lebanon could see 4 to 5 inches of snow. From Joplin to Bolivar to Lake of the Ozarks could see 6 to 8 inches of snow.
