The Boone County Quorum Court, meeting in a special session Tuesday night, has selected a new sheriff. Boone County Chief Deputy Tim Roberson will fill the remainder of sheriff Mike Moore’s term.

Moore announced earlier this month he is resigning effective April 5 to take a job with the Arkansas Department of Finance and Administration as the regulatory administrator of the Alcohol Beverage Control Commission, Arkansas Tobacco Control, the Medical Marijuana Commission and the Racing Commission.

The Harrison Daily Times reports the justices met in executive session for about 10 minutes before making their decision.

The other two candidates to fill the position were former Harrison Police Chief Wayne Cone and Andrew Jones.
