The year 2022 will mark the 50th anniversary of the Buffalo National River, and a committee of National Park Service staff and members of the Buffalo National River Partners is seeking the public’s assistance in commemorating the occasion. The committee is holding a contest for anyone who would like to design a logo to mark the anniversary.

Buffalo National River Partners Board Vice President Terri Martindale says most national parks and similar entities already have a logo, and this is the perfect time for the local river to have one of its own.

Anyone looking to take part in the contest will be allowed up to two submissions. The logo should be unique to the Buffalo National River, and it needs to point the public toward thinking and acting to protect the river and its surrounding areas. Martindale says the logo also should recognize the river’s iconic features.

It will be mandatory for the potential winning logo to have the words “Buffalo National River” or the initials “BNR.” Martindale says there are other features that are optional.
